Collectors just got an early look at one of the biggest products of the year.

Promoted by a 15-second video featuring Cincinnati Reds star and hobby favorite Elly De La Cruz, Topps previewed the card design for 2024 Topps Series 1 Baseball Thursday morning.

Early reactions from collectors focused on a larger border around the main photograph and the black gradient at the top of the card. A potential challenge for those looking to grade their cards, a post by the MLBPA seemingly confirms the border is for all cards and not a color choice for certain teams.

The use of a neon glow around the border of the image and the team name is also a new element.

The preview also confirmed the previously expected release date of Feb. 14.

Though De La Cruz was the preview card, Topps hasn’t announced the cover athlete for Series 1. Julio Rodriguez was the cover athlete for 2023 Series 1 while Shohei Ohtani was on the cover for 2022.
