While Fanatics Collectibles hasn’t managed to completely eliminate redemptions yet, some collectors may be happy to see items like signed baseballs added to the pool of potential hits.

Labeled as a Special Event Item, Fanatics Exclusive 2024 Topps Series 1 Baseball Value Boxes will now include redemptions for signed memorabilia.

The exclusive value boxes went live on the Fanatics website on Feb. 6 for $29.99 and a redemption for an Adley Rutschman autographed baseball was included in the gallery of preview images.

It’s unclear if the redemptions are limited to autographed baseballs or if items like autographed jerseys will be included.

Pack odds show that the Fanatics Authentics Redemptions fall once in every 251 value boxes and once in every 2,254 packs. A checklist for the redemptions isn’t currently available.

The added memorabilia items come months after Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin told sports media personality Bill Simmons that the company was working to greatly reduce the number of redemptions in new products.

“There were so many redemptions out there that collectors were maddened by this,” Rubin told Simmons last November. “So I went to baseball — which is our biggest business today — I went to the head of the union, Tony Clark. I went to our organization and I said we need to eliminate redemptions.”

Rubin added in that interview that when Fanatics Collectibles first formed, Topps Chrome Baseball had about 30,000 redemptions and it was reduced to under 1,000 the following year.
